Shortly after a recent arrest, A Union City man made his first court appearance via video conference in Hudson County Superior Court during CJP. The man is charged with allegedly assaulting two men yesterday by lunging at them with a kitchen knife. One of the victims suffered a significant injury when he received a cut to the right hand.
The defendant, a 25 year-old, of the 400 block of 44th Street, has been charged with various criminal offenses including Terroristic Threats, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon with Unlawful Purposes. These charges are serious and are at least third degree crimes which carry 3 – 5 years in state prison. At Proetta & Oliver, our attorneys have successfully represented clients against weapons assault cases where we were ultimately able to get the charges remanded and later dismissed. In other circumstances we were able to secure Pre-Trial Intervention for clients so that the charges were dismissed upon completion of the program.
