Holland Tunnel DWI Checkpoint

Miami Police Set Up DUI Checkpoint For Holiday Drivers

Port Authority officers conducted a DWI checkpoint at the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City this past weekend in anticipation of the Columbus Day weekend holiday weekend. The checkpoint was active between 10 p.m. Saturday October 8 into the early morning hours of October 9 until 6 a.m. Saturday, at the entrances to the Holland Tunnel. This is just the newest example of what appears to be a crackdown on drunk drivers coming to and from New York City. There have also been several checkpoints at the Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge this year.

During police DUI checkpoints, port authority officers have to stop cars randomly and follow a strict list of procedures based on research related to past drunk driving accidents and bars or liquor sales in the nearby area. If the DWI checkpoint procedures were not conducted properly then your DWI may be able to be dismissed outright. If you have been charged with a DWI during a checkpoint at the Holland Tunnel then you should contact a Jersey City DWI attorney who can go over your possible defenses in detail.
